No one wants to get the phone call in the middle of the night telling them that a loved one was in a car accident and the situation does not look good. No one wants to wake up in the morning to find out their spouse passed away in the middle of the night. The loss of a child or parent is not very comforting especially when it is not expected. The first reaction is shock when the news first sets in but reality has not sunk in that no one will ever see this person again. The next day funeral arrangements have to be made along with telling other friends and family members the devastating news. Finally the day of the funeral comes and seeing the body lying in the casket brings everything to a reality. At the funeral the other friends and family are crying with tears of sorrow. The choir sings songs of joy and peace about heaven. Some of the people close to the person give encouraging words to the family. They also walk down memory lane about the great things the person did while they were alive. The warm memories are nice but the family is sad because they will not be able to make any more memories with the person. The preacher speaks about dying and going to heaven. Hopefully the person lived a life that qualifies them to go to heaven. The healing from a loss of a loved one takes time. Some people try to rush the healing process by indulging in other things but really it takes time. It takes time to get used to the person not being there. It also takes time to talk about the person without crying and going back to the feeling of sadness. Indulging in other things can be positive but it can also be negative. The negative can be drugs and alcohol abuse. There is also over-eating to hide the emotions. If the spouse passed away then the other person might start finding comfort with having promiscuous relations with several people. They also might become addicted to adult films and products to fill that void. Another negative out- come is emotional issues, always being angry and out of control. The person might also isolate themselves for a long period of time. Some positive things that a person who has lost a loved one can do are to start new hobbies. They could volunteer more in the community at charities like food and clothing drives. The person might want to return to school and change careers. They could also decorate the house in a different way or move altogether to a new environment. Changing environments is not a way to forget the person but to help make the adjustment easier. Occupying time with friends and family is a good thing that will definitely help. It is hard to lose a loved one but if the person turns their life around positively from their loss, they will overcome.
