So, I’m addicted …

It’s not really embarrassing, just sort of weird.

I’m addicted to meal planning.

Truly. I know, weird.

It’s one thing to like it; to love the cost saving and less waste issue of meal planning. It’s one thing to be frugal and wise and to not be caught by surprise (hey, that rhymed!).

But, I’m addicted. I L.O.V.E. meal planning.

I like to plan them out for a week. Or two! Or three! (really)

Then I like checking them off and re-thinking it and planning ahead and considering different side dishes and … the list goes on and on.

And I like planning my shopping list between two or three (or four) stores!

Then, when there is a surprise, like company coming … well, that’s just makes my day.

I get to re-plan all over again.

Is there something wrong with me? Don’t answer that. Just let it hang out there.

But seriously …

I love it. And, yes, for those of you that haven’t given it a go:

  1. It really does save money
  2. It really does save time
  3. It really does cut down dramatically on waste
  4. It really does help you eat healthier

But it can also be fun. It is for me. I love it.

I’m not fancy. Here is my scribbled out list for the past week or so. See the tick marks beside the number? Those are what I have fixed from my list. My list goes on to 35 dinners, actually.

I know, I could have made that prettier for you; but I wanted you to see how basic I am. In case you were waiting until you could be organized and classy before you attempted this extremely helpful tool.

We are grain-free at our house, so tuna casserole means quinoa and corn pasta and stir-fry means cauliflower rice. But I don’t have to write down those specifics, I live here. I can keep my list making basic and let it do its magic.

Some people have gone so far as to say they have saved 50% on their grocery bill once they implemented this tool. That is crazy!

If you need to cut expenses somewhere, why don’t you try this?

One huge added bonus is: If you plan out a week or two and plan your shopping accordingly, you won’t get caught with nothing to fix for dinner. OR run out of meals before your next scheduled grocery trip. OR get frustrated by no ideas. OR have to run to the store for something every time you turn around (unless your husband eats all the brussels sprouts before your planned night.

My advice: try it. Maybe you’ll get addicted like me!

    I so want to be a meal planner. For years I’ve wanted to be a meal planner. I don’t know why it stresses me out so much but it does. And I get that it would be helpful if I got over the goofiness. Prayers to get this addiction appreciated. Love the pictures from the new adventure and praying for you!

  2. Mike and I are going to Good Old Days tonight after we register the truck in Nashville. 🙂
    We do a loose meal planning around here, with three cooks in the kitchen now. Sometimes we do run out of something that we didn’t know one of us finished. This is one thing that would definitely help with the three of us cooking each week!
