We all know processed food and fast food are not real food. Even when we eat them for convenience, deep inside we know. We struggle sometimes to keep that knowledge deep inside.
But we know.
And it is frustrating.
Frustrating because we have convenience all around us, but real health does not live in convenience or easy. It lives in real stuff. Real food. Real movement. Real relationships. And real stuff is not pre-packaged and super convenient. Continue reading
Is that a question you have ever asked? Perhaps this one: How can I be more?
It seems we are plagued with the desire to do better, be better, look better, live better. Is that a product of our culture? It is a good product or a by-product? I am pondering that question deeply of late.
Here is my humble conclusion — we are made to improve. We are encouraged in Scripture to “fulfill” “race” “fulfill” and many more inspiring words. It is built into our DNA to try to be better. Continue reading
But what if you have too many “Important Stuffs”?
I am working on eating a plant-based diet. It takes focus. Maybe it shouldn’t take so much focus, but it is taking my focus!
And I am back in the children’s ministry game! Yay! I will be launching a new website shortly showcasing my best-selling product line — The Party Plans! So much excitement has surrounded these products, so much excitement surrounding getting them revamped and re-released.
AND I am attempting to get myself back to writing daily. Continue reading
Everyone is different. We all know that. HOWEVER, we feel uncomfortable when someone does something “different” than us. Doesn’t really make sense, though. If we are all, in fact, different; then we will do things differently.
And it is not just our personalities that are different. Our bodies are different, our minds are different, our purpose is different.
What is right for one person, may not be right for someone else.
And what someone has to walk through may not be something you have to walk through. And vice versa. Continue reading
Looking back on a trip around the calendar is an excellent use of time. And my 2016 was a crazy one. How was yours?
- It is the first year we did not add on a grandchild for the past 5 years! Crazy! (But we are adding one in 2017, so all is well.)
- We moved from Illinois to Nevada! What? Really? yup!
- I turned to a plant based diet! I did what exactly? It still seems strange. (Not as strange as the fact that we live in Las Vegas.) I wrote a little blurb about it here. Vegan, Really?
- My writing took a serious back seat to the other things happening in my world. (Not my favorite thing on the list.)
It is vital to look at where you were and where you are. What are you happy with? What are you frustrated by? Continue reading
Seriously, I cannot begin to tell you how thrilled I am. I made it the entire length of the 60 Day Challenge I set for myself.
ALL THE WAY TO THE END!!!
Sometimes you just gotta stop for one second and be proud of yourself. Sometimes you gotta just pat yourself on the back and say YAY ME!
That’s where I am. However, I am absolutely not stopping here. I have set a Challenge for myself for the next 30 Days. AND I am joining with a friend for a series of 10 Day Challenges where we are pushing ourselves in one or two areas and holding each other accountable.
There is nothing like the feeling of success. Not. One. Thing.
Are you challenging yourself in an area right now? Please comment on this blog (below). Share it with the world. Make it public. It seems a little more real when you do.
I can’t wait to encourage you back.
Day 61 of the 60 Day Challenge!!!
I know what you are thinking. Vegan? What is that word doing on a post title?
On, more specifically, my post title???
Well, I’ve been on a health journey. I felt lead to put myself on a 60 day challenge (I talked about it already here.and here.) But I never would have expected it would take me here.
I would have argued with you if you said it would. Actually, I think I did argue about it. Continue reading
Whether it is a new challenge, hustle, dream, goal, or job; that first day is awesome. So much motivation. So much hope. So much commitment. Nothing but positive as far as your eye can see.
But the first day bliss wears off. Reality kind of sets in. The motivation becomes more gray tones than black and white. And that stinks because you really want to do this! Continue reading
The Bible says:
Whoever disregards discipline comes to poverty and shame! Oh my!
So, then, not wanting poverty or shame, what is the opposite of this warning? Whoever regards discipline comes to prosperity and respect? That sounds about right, yes?
Discipline in what? The answer is clear: everything. Continue reading
